Multiple Ecco the Dolphin games are now officially in development

It has been confirmed that several new Ecco the Dolphin products and games are officially in development following an announcement from the series creator last year.

The details:

• As announced by A&R Atelier (via Gematsu), a California-based studio founded by veteran game developers, including the original creators of Ecco the Dolphin, the franchise is finally being revived with several new games on the way. The studio’s CCO, Ecco series creator Ed Annunziata, will oversee the projects, which aim to expand the franchise going forward. "It has been years in the making and we're honored to bring Ecco back," said Annunziata in a statement. "Ecco has always been more than a game about a dolphin—he's a bridge between worlds."
• While further details regarding the upcoming projects are currently under wraps, future information regarding upcoming titles and partnerships will be announced at the official Ecco the Dolphin website. The studio has also opened up an official Discord server where fans can connect with the developers and receive exclusive updates, behind-the-scenes content, and early looks at the projects.
• Annunziata previously announced plans to release remastered versions of the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis titles Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time, as well as develop an entirely new game last year. “Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games,” Annunziata said in an interview with Xbox Wire. “Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities.”
