Sony and Bungie are working together on multiple unannounced projects

It's unclear what they're working on, but now we know there's more than one project to watch out for.

Bungie creative lead Tom Farnsworth recently revealed on Twitter that the company is working with Sony on a "number of unannounced projects.”

The details:

On January 4, Farnsworth shared a picture of a shield covered in over 25 medals, each of which denoted a different release for Destiny. Farnsworth shared how Bungie has changed over the course of his 11 years working at the studio, mentioning the transition from "strictly boxed products to live service games." In the following tweet, he added, "With the support of Sony, we are working on a number of unannounced projects too,".
Bungie has been working on an unannounced game that is reportedly powered by Destiny 2's Tiger Engine. This is likely one of the unannounced projects being worked on alongside Destiny 2.
A multiplayer action game that isn't related to Destiny is also supposedly in development with the working title "Matter." The overall tone of the game is alleged to be lighter than both Halo and Destiny. Despite a lack of information surrounding the project, it is suspected that we have seen some concept art for this project at the end of a recruitment video in early 2022. This could be the project Bungie was referring to in their blog post from February 2021, where they went on record to say they’re looking to release a new series by 2025.

What else is going on at Bungie?

In July 2022, Sony confirmed that they had acquired Bungie in a deal worth approximately $3.7 billion USD. Bungie CEO Pete Parsons said Bungie would "continue to independently publish and creatively develop our games" in the original announcement in January 2022.
Bungie was also spotted filing six patents in March by The Game Post, including one that features touchscreen controls. This suggests that Bungie might be looking to bring Destiny to mobile, or could possibly be one of the unannounced projects. Currently, everything is just speculation, but given that a few of Bungie's job postings have previously mentioned mobile, we'd be surprised if the company doesn't eventually dabble in the market.
