Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is coming to Switch 2 next year

Four years after its last entry, Capcom has announced that a new title in the Monster Hunter Stories subseries is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 next year.

The details:

  • As announced during Nintendo’s latest Partner Direct, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection will arrive on Switch 2 sometime in 2026. “Embark on a new adventure as a Rider living in harmony with monsters in the third instalment of the turn-based RPG series set in the world of Monster Hunter,” the game’s description reads. “Amidst an environmental calamity, a monster hatches, bearing a symbol of misfortune that drives two neighbouring kingdoms to war. The heirs of these two kingdoms venture into forbidden ground in search of the truth.”
  • The spin-off series debuted on the 3DS back in 2016, marking a switch from the main franchise’s gameplay for a focus on fighting and forging friendships with monsters and turn-based battles. It would then receive a sequel in 2021, with an updated port of the original game being released last year.
  • It’s unknown if the game is a timed exclusive, as both Stories 1 and 2 were, though the second game was also on PC. Both games are also noted as being some of the very few games to get official Amiibo releases from Nintendo, but it is unknown if the third title will follow.
