Bungie has officially confirmed that its upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, will release on March 5, 2026, following its original delay last year.

The details:

  • Following an accidental leak of a pre-order trailer on Xbox, Bungie has now confirmed a March 5 release date for the FPS across all platforms. The game will be priced at $39.99 for the standard edition, with a Deluxe Edition available for $59.99, which includes cosmetics for the Destroyer, Assassin, and Thief characters.
  • Bungie has also reaffirmed that all gameplay updates throughout 2026 will be free, including new maps, Runner shells, and seasonal events, with the first season beginning with the exploration of the Cryo Archive on the derelict Marathon ship. The studio has also committed to fair play, promising that players will never be able to “pay-to-win” by purchasing gameplay items with real-world currency.
  • The release comes nearly five months after the game was delayed from its original September 2025 launch date due to player feedback from an April alpha test amid a plagiarism controversy. During this period, Bungie has made many highly requested improvements, including the addition of proximity chat, solo queue options, enhanced visual fidelity, and a new Runner shell called Rook designed for acquiring gear to be used on other shells.
