Indiana Jones and the Great Circle developer MachineGames has reaffirmed that it still intends to return to its roots and wrap up its modern Wolfenstein saga as a trilogy.

The details:

  • Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, studio director Jerk Gustafsson stated that the studio had always intended on going back to the series for a third entry, though fans may be waiting a while before hearing more. "Our intention has always been to go back to Wolfenstein,” he said. β€œWe wanted to finish the trilogy. And when we do that, that is something that I don't want to comment on. It can be now, it can be later, but we're not done with it. That's what I can say."
  • Gustafsson reflected on the lengthy development cycles of modern AAA games, explaining that if MachineGames continues to release a new project roughly every four years, he personally may only have two or three more titles left in his career. However, he noted that a third Wolfenstein game is among the projects he hopes to be involved in, given that the series was always planned to be a trilogy.
  • It has been reported that Wolfenstein 3 is still in the planning stages at MachineGames, with the studio still focused on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The action-adventure title is set to come to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year as part of a major release schedule for Bethesda that will see Fallout 4 and Oblivion Remastered launch on the console.
