Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered announced for October, with a $10 upgrade for original game owners
Sony has announced that Horizon Zero Dawn will receive a remaster later this year, bringing it in line with its current-generation sequel.
The details:
The long-rumored remaster was announced during PlayStation's State of Play and is being developed by Guerrilla and Nixxes Software for PS5 and PC, with a release date set for October 31. The title will cost $50, but those who already own the original version of Zero Dawn will be able to upgrade for a one-time fee of $10, even if it was acquired through PlayStation's free "Play at Home" initiative.
According to Sony, the remaster includes "more than ten hours" of re-recorded motion capture, as well as numerous graphical upgrades such as improved character models, textures, and lighting to bring it closer to Forbidden West. Some PS5-exclusive features, such as haptic triggers and 3D audio, will be also supported, and a number of accessibility options introduced in Forbidden West will be available.
Sony has also confirmed that the game will take advantage of the PS5 Pro's increased power, stating that it will provide "ultra-high fidelity at blazing fast framerates" as well as a "range of graphical features that have been improved" specifically for the console.
The PC version will support Trophies via the PlayStation overlay, as well as ultra-wide resolutions, Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1, and additional unannounced exclusive features. Although it is yet to be confirmed, the remaster may require the use of a PlayStation Network account on PC similar to other PlayStation PC ports, such as God of War Ragnarök.
Other announcements at State of Play:
Sucker Punch has announced a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima titled "Ghost of Yōtei." The game takes place hundreds of years after the first title and is set in Northern Japan.
Palworld has finally arrived on PS5, but its release in Japan has been postponed, most likely due to Pocketpair's ongoing lawsuit with Nintendo.
