The developer behind Genshin Impact has revealed plans for an ambitious fantasy MMO built in Unreal Engine 5, marking a significant departure from the studio's traditional anime-inspired visual style.

The details:

  • As shared by several users over on ResetEra, HoYoverse released a brief teaser video on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, showcasing early concept footage featuring realistic graphics.
  • According to job postings and details released alongside the teaser, the game is described as a "realistic fantasy" title built in Unreal Engine 5, featuring an epic fantasy open world, massive boss battles, co-op multiplayer, competitive PvP, intelligent NPCs powered by AI systems, next-generation animation technology, a dynamic open world with ecological AI simulation, all-terrain battle AI, and high-fidelity graphics. It has also been confirmed that the game will support cross-platform play much like the rest of MiHoYo’s biggest titles.
  • The game currently has no official title or release date, and with HoYoverse currently hiring 63 positions for the project, the game appears to be in early development stages and is likely several years away from launch.
