Epic Games has announced the addition of a new setting in Fortnite that allows players to block "overly confrontational" emotes, which are frequently associated with disrespecting opponents.

The details:

  • The “See Confrontational Emotes” setting has been introduced with Fortnite’s v29.30 update, which disables the Laugh It Up, Take the L, Whipcrack, and Make It Plantain emotes. Players performing the emotes will now simply stand still, with all music disabled.

  • In-game, emotes are commonly used to taunt enemies after defeating them, as players are automatically switched to spectating their killer. Unfortunately, some are not so harmless, as players have used the Whipcrack and Make It Plantain emotes to send racial abuse to others.

  • Emotes remain one of Fortnite's most notable features, with some becoming so popular in recent years that celebrities and athletes have performed them at events. The introduction of the new setting has now sparked speculation about whether we'll ever see them in the Item Shop again or if more emotes will be added to the list in the future.
