Ecco the Dolphin creator confirms a new game and remasters are on the way

Ecco the Dolphin creator Ed Annunziata has confirmed that a new entry in the franchise is in development alongside remasters of the first two classic Sega titles.
The details:
Earlier this year, it was reported that Sega had filed new trademarks for Ecco, its unique puzzle adventure series that debuted on the Mega Drive/Genesis in the 1990s. While Sega did not confirm that anything related to the franchise was in the works, fans speculated that a new entry could be on the way as part of the company's ongoing efforts to reboot its classic franchises.
In a new interview with Xbox Wire to commemorate Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Annunziata confirmed that a new Ecco game is in the works. The series' creator also revealed that remasters of both the original Ecco the Dolphin and its sequel, The Tides of Time, are in development. “Me and the entire original team are going to remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games,” Annunziata said. “Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities.”
Annunziata concluded the interview by telling fans to keep an eye on the franchise's official website, which now features a countdown that ends on April 25, 2026.
