Dead by Daylight is getting a film adaptation

Behaviour Interactive’s multiplayer survival horror game is being adapted for the big screen by production studios Atomic Monster and Blumhouse.

The details:

• Behaviour Interactive is collaborating with Atomic Monster and Blumhouse to create a film that will "further expand the Dead by Daylight universe," according to Variety. Since its release on PC in 2016, the game has had over 50 million players worldwide, with console ports following in the years since. It has remained popular due to crossovers with well-known horror franchises such as Nightmare on Elm Street and The Evil Dead.
• Jason Blum, the founder and CEO of Blumhouse, and James Wan, founder and CEO of Atomic Monster, are both well-known in the horror genre for their work on "Paranormal Activity" and "Annabelle," respectively. Behaviour's Remi Racine, Atomic Monster's Michael Clear and Judson Scott, Blumhouse's Ryan Turek, and Striker Entertainment's Russell Binder will serve as executive producers alongside Behaviour's Executive Vice President Stephen Mulrooney.
• There is no information on a target release date for the film, but it is likely to be far off as it has not yet started production. The plot of the film is also unknown, but given that the companies are still looking for a director and screenwriter for the project, it’s likely that nothing more than a very vague outline has been put together for now.

Other upcoming video game TV adaptations:

• Pokémon and Netflix have partnered with Dwarf Studios to create "Pokémon Concierge," a stop-motion animated series. The plot revolves around a concierge at a resort who assists Pokémon guests with day-to-day challenges.
• According to a recent leak, Call of Duty may be getting a TV series that will premiere in May 2023. It will be based on the hugely successful Modern Warfare reboot and will include iconic characters like Ghost, Price, and Soap.
• Netflix confirmed in November 2022 that an animated series and a live-action feature film based on Gears of War were in the works. The streaming service is working with Gears developer The Coalition to ensure the projects are accurate to the source material.
