Cyberpunk 2 is officially in pre-production, CD Projekt announces

CD Projekt has announced that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 has entered the next stage of development, which is now known as Cyberpunk 2.
The details:
As revealed in a statement released alongside the developer's latest Q1 2025 financial report, Project Orion, now known as Cyberpunk 2, has entered the pre-production phase. "Several weeks ago the CD Projekt Red team responsible for the next big game set in the Cyberpunk universe completed the project's conceptual phase," the studio wrote. "As a result, Cyberpunk 2 β previously known under the codename Project Orion β has progressed to preproduction."
Little is known about the game as of yet, and its name may change again closer to release. However, it has been in development at CDPR's North American studios in Boston and Vancouver since its announcement in 2022, with 96 developers confirmed to be working on it.
CD Projekt has also revealed more information about its upcoming projects, including the distribution of its workforce. Currently, 422 employees are working on The Witcher 4, which is expected to be its next major release, whereas Cyberpunk 2 is the company's second largest project. Meanwhile, 49 developers are working on The Witcher multiplayer title Project Sirius, 19 on Project Hadar, the studio's first original IP, and the remaining 145 staff members are split between unannounced projects, as well as QA, localization, data, AI, and other teams.
