Sega has fully unveiled Crazy Taxi: World Tour, a reboot of its classing arcade racing series coming in 2027 to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.

The details:

  • The new trailer, shown during the Xbox Games Showcase, is our first real look at the upcoming reboot and stars original cabbie Axel and the iconic Offspring track “All I Want.” Sega describes World Tour as a large-scale title with a story-driven “World Tour” campaign, online and other multiplayer modes, a broader set of vehicles and customization options, and a Classic/Arcade mode that recreates the feel of the original games.
  • The game’s plot focused on Axel as he tries to track down a masked villain who stole his taxi, which sees him travel across several cities while helping their residents and getting involved in side activities, including the obligatory fishing minigame.
  • However, shortly after the reveal, players spotted a note on the game’s Steam page stating that Sega "utilizes[s] generative AI as a support tool for developers.” The note led to immediate backlash from fans, but Sega has since issued a statement claiming that the tools were used in the “development of background assets" and that “no AI was used in reference to the performers in the game.”
