Following the highly successful releases of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4’s remakes, the publisher has begun asking fans directly which game in the survival horror series they’d love to see receive the same treatment.

Capcom has asked for fan opinions on its social media presence and community efforts in a new survey aimed at the franchise's fans; however, at the end of the survey, the publisher asked two questions about the series' sites and games. "Let us know if there are any other Resident Evil games you want remade," the survey asks, with a text box where players can tell Capcom which titles in the franchise they think deserve a full remake.
Capcom has released remakes of three of the first four mainline Resident Evil titles in the last five years, excluding the first game, which received a remake back in 2002 and has been re-released on more modern platforms over the years. All games have received positive feedback from players and critics, with 4's remake being one of the highest-rated games on Metacritic in 2023 with a critic average of 93, leaving fans of the series wondering what game will come next.
Fans have been vocal about their desire for a remake of the Dreamcast title, Code: Veronica, since the release of Resident Evil 2's remake. Hopes for a release in the near future ended in October 2022, when series producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed that there were no plans to remake the game, though he did say that if "opportunity comes," it was a "maybe." One argument for the remake is that the game's most recent re-release was on the Xbox 360, and the game received less attention outside of the franchise's core fanbase than other entries.
Despite fan hopes for a remake of Code: Veronica, it's also possible that Capcom will return to the series' first entry, or even continue with the more controversial Resident Evil 5, though this is less likely given that the game still holds up much better graphically and in terms of overall gameplay than previous games.
