Feng Ji, the director of Game Science's action RPG Black Myth: Wukong, has stated that "some surprises" will be available by the end of the year, implying that DLC content may be announced soon.

The details:

  • During a speech after the game won the fan-voted Game of the Year award at the 2024 Golden Joysticks, Ji acknowledged that players may have already finished the base game but asked them to stick around until the end of the year for a potential surprise. "Of course, you might have already completed our game," he said. "That's perfectly fine too, Keep following us, and there might just be some surprises waiting for you later this year."

  • Fans immediately assumed Ji was suggesting that a DLC was on the way, following a previous Bloomberg report claiming that an expansion similar to Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree was in development earlier this year.

  • As the director stated that the "surprises" could arrive in 2024, it may potentially be an announcement at The Game Awards, as the game is currently nominated in multiple categories, with a release coming in early 2025 to coincide with the Chinese New Year.

  • Another possibility is that there will be an announcement regarding the release date of the long-awaited Xbox version of the game. Microsoft confirmed that the port's delayed release was not due to any "platform limitations" and that it was still in the works, leaving many wondering when the title would be available for the platform.
