Black Myth: Wukong's Xbox delay is "not due to platform limitations," Microsoft confirms
Microsoft has confirmed that the delayed release of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox is not due to hardware limitations, as previously rumored.

In June, Black Myth developer Game Science announced that the game would not be released on Xbox Series X/S alongside its PS5 and PC versions as it was still being optimized to meet its "quality standards." This sparked speculation that the game was struggling to run on the less powerful Series S and Sony were potentially in talks to make it a PlayStation exclusive.
In a statement to Forbes, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox version is still in the works, but declined to comment "on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders." It also stated that the reason for the delay was unrelated to "Xbox platform limitations that have been raised to usβ and that it was "excited" for the game's eventual release.
Rumors about the Series S's involvement in the delay likely gained traction as the console has previously caused issues for developers. Last year, the Xbox port of Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3 was delayed because the studio was unable to get split-screen multiplayer to work properly on the lower-end hardware. The developer believed that Microsoft required games to have the same features as the Series X and S, but it was later clarified that this was not the case, resulting in the removal of split-screen.
Black Myth has been a huge hit, becoming the second most-played game of all time on Steam with over two million concurrent players and selling ten million copies in just three days. The impressive sales figures are expected to rise further with the release of an Xbox port, although many of its players are based in China, where PC remains the dominant gaming platform.
