Assassin's Creed Shadows is seemingly coming to Nintendo Switch 2, retailer reveals
Ubisoft

A listing for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been spotted on the website of a French retailer, with a release expected early next year.

The details:

  • As spotted by VGC, Auchan had a now-deleted listing for the action-adventure title, which was released back in March for current-generation consoles and PC. The listing featured a description that translates to “Experience Assassin’s Creed Shadows in a whole new way with Nintendo Switch 2,” with the box art suggesting that it will be released on a Game-Key Card like the port of Star Wars Outlaws.
  • A Switch 2 version of AC Shadows has been expected since shortly after the game’s original launch, after European ratings board PEGI updated its website to mention the port. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot then mentioned in July that new versions of its games would be coming to “other machines,” hinting that Shadows was among those unspecified ports.
  • The decision for Ubisoft to use Game-Key Cards, Nintendo’s new download-only cartridge format, does not come as a surprise. Despite poor reception from players who still prefer to purchase physical games, the format does have technical benefits over traditional cartridges. A developer working on the Switch 2 port of Star Wars Outlaws recently explained that lower costs were never a deciding factor, but rather the much faster load times and improved performance provided by digital downloads.
