Activision Blizzard illegally threatened employees, according to US labor board

Video game giant Activision Blizzard has illegally threatened its staff among other wrongdoings, according to a prominent US labor board.

The misconduct: Activision Blizzard's reckoning continues.

  • The Call of Duty and Overwatch publisher has been found to engage in multiple wrongdoings towards its staff, per Bloomberg.
  • It's reported that the National Labor Relations Board has said that the company has been illegally threatening its staff. It was also found to have been enforcing a social media policy that's incongruous with the rights of its employees.
  • The National Labor Relation Boards's Regional Director in Los Angeles will file a formal complaint should Activision Blizzard fail to settle the issue.

Elsewhere: Activision Blizzard was in the news for other reasons today.

  • Quality assurance testers at Raven Software, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, successfully voted in favor of forming a union on May 23.
  • 19 of the 28 workers voted "yes" in a mail ballot which was counted by the NLRB and now the group, formally known as Game Workers Alliance, will enter negotiations with the parent company.
  • In broader news, Activision Blizzard is hoping to close a deal that would see it become a property of Microsoft in an industry-rattling transaction worth almost $69B. It's still facing several lawsuits, most of which center on allegations of workplace misconduct.
