A Cyberpunk 2077 lawsuit has been settled for a total of $1.85 million

CD Projekt RED (CDPR) has reached a settlement for the lawsuit filed against them surrounding Cyberpunk 2077’s state at launch. They will pay a total of $1.85 million USD to the group of investors that felt misled.

The details:

• In January 2021, a class-action lawsuit was filed against CDPR alleging that investors were misled by the company about the state of Cyberpunk 2077. Investors claimed that the game was "virtually unplayable" on consoles, with the studio never disclosing this to them. It was also noted that damages as high as $11 million were suffered, according to a consultant on behalf of the plaintiffs.
• This was the second lawsuit regarding the situation, with the first being filed shortly after Cyberpunk 2077’s release in December 2020 by the New York-based Rosen Law Firm.
• As reported by Law360, CDPR has reached a final settlement in which a total of $1.85 million will be paid out to a group of investors. However, CDPR is not required to admit to any of the allegations levelled against them in the lawsuit.

What else is going on at CDPR?

• The Witcher 3 has recently received a next-gen update, including refreshed graphics, gameplay changes, and cross-platform progression. This updated version of the critically acclaimed title will be released in a physical format in January 2023 for both Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5, as confirmed by CDPR in a statement to Insider Gaming.
• A remake of the first Witcher game is now in development, too, with an open-world setting. This is a change from the zone-based structure of the now 15-year-old original. The remake will be developed in collaboration with the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, whose team features developers who have worked on previous Witcher entries.
• Cyberpunk will receive another release with the project currently codenamed "Project Orion." Cyberpunk has also received a resurgence in popularity following its controversial launch, with patch 1.6 and the Edgerunners anime series contributing to CDPR's best financial quarter ever in Q3 2022.
