A Killzone remake is reportedly in early development at PlayStation, with Polish studio People Can Fly — the team behind Bulletstorm and Outriders — strongly indicated as the developer. The project is believed to be tied to a previously announced deal between People Can Fly and Sony to develop a PS5 game based on an existing PlayStation IP, codenamed Project Delta.

The details:

  • According to MP1st, Guerrilla Games is involved in a supervisory capacity, working with the external studio on what is described as a "remaster/remake" of the series. Speculation points to the original 2004 Killzone as the most likely candidate for the revamp.
  • The project reportedly came about partly due to shifts at Guerrilla itself. The studio had planned to focus on Killzone after Horizon Hunter's Gathering, but that game was allegedly delayed and its live service ambitions scaled back, freeing up room for the Killzone revival to be handed to an outside team.
  • Sony has not announced the project or confirmed any of the details. People Can Fly previously confirmed only that a PlayStation deal for an existing IP was in place, without naming the IP.
