10:10 Games suffers layoffs following Funko Fusion's poor commercial performance

10:10 Games, the developer of the Funko Pop action-adventure title Funko Fusion, has laid off staff after the game was deemed a "complete commercial and critical failure."
The details:
As reported by Insider Gaming, anonymous sources claim that employees were informed of the layoffs in mid-January, with 19 positions at risk. The cuts are said to be due to the studio struggling to secure funding for future projects after Funko Fusion massively underperformed commercially. According to the sources, 10:10 Games told employees that there "isn't enough work to give the whole team."
Despite initially being told that those affected would be assisted in finding work elsewhere, the developer allegedly gave staff "the bare legal minimum," with no real severance package, but rather payments and notice periods involving their unused holiday time. However, it has been claimed that employees were previously encouraged to use their holiday time during the holiday season, with some discovering that they had lost their jobs while on break.
10:10 Games has yet to publicly comment on the layoffs, with sources telling Insider Gaming that studio heads Paul Flanagan and Arthur Parsons "initially told staff that they wanted to take responsibility for the layoffs when it became public," but are now "having a different firm handle public contact."
Funko Fusion was the studio's first release since its founding in 2021. The game, which was announced in 2022, allows players to play as various Funko Pop figures inspired by popular IPs such as Back to the Future, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Scott Pilgrim. However, the game was met with mixed reviews, with many criticizing its technical issues, poor controls and combat system, and uninspired mission design.
