After being leaked earlier this month, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has officially announced Yakuza Kiwami 3, its remake of 2009’s Yakuza 3.

The details:

  • As announced during the RGG Summit presentation, Yakuza Kiwami 3 will release as a full remake of the 2009 PS3 title on February 12, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, PS4, and PC via Steam. Rather than a remaster, this is a complete remake built in the Dragon Engine, with enhanced visuals, gameplay additions, and new story content. “Our goal is to retell Kiryu’s journey while also expanding the world of Yakuza 3, offering players more than ever before,” studio head Masayoshi Yokoyama said.
  • Kiwami 3 will also include Yakuza 3 Gaiden: Dark Ties, a separate spin-off game starring antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. Dark Ties is set prior to the main game and covers Mine’s backstory as he enters Kamurocho’s criminal underworld. “It’s going to be released as a set package with Yakuza Kiwami 3 and Yakuza 3: Dark Ties,” Yokoyama explained. “So it’s not actually going to be included in the main Yakuza Kiwami 3 game, it’s actually a separate thing. So whenever you start playing Yakuza Kiwami 3 you can actually choose which one you want to start, whether it’s Kiwami 3 or Dark Ties.”
