Warcraft 2: Remastered images seemingly leak ahead of next week’s Warcraft Direct
Artwork of a Warcraft 2 remaster has surfaced online, which is said to have originated from Blizzard’s servers, with an announcement expected during the upcoming Warcraft Direct livestream.
The details:
As reported by Wowhead, the leaked images and logos for the unannounced remaster originated on Blizzard's internal servers as part of an update to its content delivery network. Aside from the images, the update contains references to "Warcraft II: Remastered Internal Alpha," which can be viewed publicly on BlizzTrack.
On November 13, Blizzard will host a livestream commemorating the Warcraft franchise's 30th anniversary, which will include a number of announcements related to the franchise. Given the timing of the leak, Warcraft 2: Remastered is very likely to be revealed during the event, and as the original game was released in 1995, it may arrive next year in time for its 30th anniversary.
Blizzard remastered Warcraft 3 in 2020, but despite improved graphics and modern multiplayer features, the release was panned for numerous technical issues and unwanted alterations to the original game's UI and gameplay. Furthermore, as older versions of Warcraft 3 were forced to update to include Reforged's features due to sharing a client, players were unable to play the original Reign of Chaos without any of the major changes.
