On the fifth anniversary of the game's release on PS4, Kojima Productions has released a port of Death Stranding Director's Cut for Xbox Series X/S, which will be available at a 50% discount for a limited time.

The details:

  • The Xbox version of the 2018 title is now half price at $20 until November 21. The port comes exactly five years after the game first debuted as a PlayStation exclusive, implying that its exclusivity period has expired. "It is my pleasure to finally announce that Death Stranding Director's Cut will be delivered to Xbox players," Hideo Kojima said. "I would like to thank all the fans who have stayed connected with us as well as everyone in the Xbox community who have been patiently waiting. Kojima Productions (Death Stranding) will continue to connect more and more players around the world, so please stay tuned."

  • According to its Xbox Store page, the port supports Xbox achievements, cloud saves, and the Play Everywhere feature, which allows players to access the PC version of the game through the Xbox app. Director's Cut features include Photo Mode, support for ultrawide monitors, and more.

  • With today's announcement, Kojima Productions also confirmed it has full ownership of the Death Stranding IP. The studio is currently working on Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which will be available exclusively on PS5. However, Kojima is collaborating with Xbox on another project, OD, which was revealed at The Game Awards last year with a strange teaser trailer.
