Ubisoft has announced a restructuring proposal for its Helsinki-based studio RedLynx that could result in up to 60 job losses as the company shifts focus toward mobile gaming.

The details:

  • As announced in a statement posted to the RedLynx website, the proposed job cuts are part of Ubisoft's “global efforts to simplify, reduce costs, and ensure a stronger prioritization and efficiency across the company’s worldwide studio network.” The studio states that it will undergo “collective negotiations” with staff before any final decisions are made. However, should the restructuring plan go ahead, it will affect up to 60 positions at the developer, mainly targeting its production and administration teams.
  • The decision will also see RedLynx become a studio primarily focused on mobile gaming, with two unannounced projects already in the works. RedLynx states that the move to mobile titles will allow it to “position itself for sustainable success and optimize its resources to best leverage the studio’s unique expertise.”
  • RedLynx managing director Celine Pasula acknowledged the difficult nature of the decision, stating, "This proposal reflects difficult choices we may need to make, and it comes after careful consideration. We recognize the weight of this announcement and want to acknowledge the impact this proposal may have on individuals and teams."
  • Founded in 2000 and acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, RedLynx is best known for its Trials series and has recently served as a multiplatform support studio, including work on porting Star Wars Outlaws to Nintendo Switch 2 and helping build the publisher’s in-house Snowdrop Engine.
