Twitch is using streamer content to train Amazon's AI models by default, CPO confirms

The details:

• The system was not announced through a formal blog post. It surfaced through a Twitch Support post on X announcing an opt-out toggle, with streamer Zach Bussey having flagged the program as far back as July.
• When challenged, a Twitch account posted that "Twitch is not training GenAI models on streamer content." Twitch's own account settings FAQ directly contradicts this, stating that streamer content "may be used for future Gen AI model improvements" across Amazon, including audio being used to refine speech-to-text models.
• Opting out requires going to Settings, then the Security and Privacy tab, and scrolling down to the "Training for Generative AI" toggle. Opting out of AI training does not opt streamers out of all AI uses. Twitch can still use content for features like auto-generated captions.
