Troubled survival MMO The Day Before reportedly changing its title ahead of release

Following a delay due to trademark issues with the use of the title "The Day Before," it appears that the game's developer, Mytona Fntastic, intends to change its name ahead of its rescheduled release.

The details:

• Mytona Fntastic has filed a new trademark for "Dayworld," according to Well Played, with the filing covering "downloadable game software; computer game software downloadable from a global computer network; downloadable computer game software for use on mobile devices" and more.
• However, it appears that the developer may still face legal issues with the new title, as Well Played points out that the title is also shared by a trilogy of books written by author Philip José Farmer between 1985 and 1990. Although the publication was unable to locate any existing trademarks relating to the novels, they were published by a subsidiary of the Penguin Group, one of the world's largest book publishers, which could expose Mytona to future legal action.
• Mytona must first prove that the game is "real," after the public dismissed it as a scam following its delay earlier this year after it revealed that the name "The Day Before" had already been trademarked for a calendar app. The situation pushed the release date back to November 10, caused it to be removed from Steam, and raised questions about why Mytona didn't check to see if it could secure the trademark well in advance.
