PlayStation's State of Play has returned, bringing with it some exciting new announcements, reveals, and information about games coming to PS5.

Borderlands 4

  • Gearbox has confirmed that Borderlands 4 will be released on September 23, along with a new trailer showcasing the game's new cast of characters, powerful abilities, an assortment of crazy guns, and Kairos' environments. A full gameplay reveal will take place in a future State of Play sometime this spring.

Days Gone Remastered

  • Bend Studio’s 2019 open-world zombie title Days Gone is the latest first-party title to receive the remaster treatment. The remaster, set to be released on April 25, will include new permadeath, speedrun, and arcade horde modes, as well as improved visuals, PS5 Pro support, new accessibility features, and an overhauled photo mode. Those who own the original game on PS4 and PC can upgrade to the remaster for $10.

Saros

  • Housemarque, the developer of Returnal, has unveiled Saros, an action game in which players take on the role of Arjun Devraj, a "powerful Soltari Enforcer" searching for answers on a lost off-world colony on the planet Carcosa. The game is set to release in 2026 and will feature "permanent progression systems," with Housemarque stating that “every death reshapes the world while offering new upgrades to overcome challenges."

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

  • Konami has officially confirmed that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28. The brief trailer also revealed that the PS5 and PC versions of the MGS3 remake will include a collaboration with Ape Escape, while Xbox owners will get a Bomberman crossover.

Tides of Annihilation

  • In a surprise announcement, Eclipse Glow Studio has revealed Tides of Annihilation, an action-adventure title set between mystical and modern versions of London. Players will take on the role of Gwendolyn, who can summon various Knights of the Round Table to aid in intense combat with varying abilities and bonuses. There is currently no set release date, but an accompanying blog post discusses what players can expect from the title.

Lost Soul Aside

  • After nearly a decade of development, Final Fantasy and Devil May Cry-inspired action game Lost Soul Aside will be released on PC and PS5 on May 30. Originally conceived as a solo project by Chinese developer Yang Bing, it has evolved into an impressive combat-heavy title with "diverse environments, unique enemies, fascinating characters, and a compelling story."

Directive 8020

  • Until Dawn and The Quarry studio Supermassive has revealed its next project, Directive 8020, a sci-fi horror game set to release on October 2 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The game follows a group of astronauts onboard the Cassiopeia as they face various dangers while attempting to save humanity, with players making difficult decisions along the way.

Digimon Story Time Stranger

  • The Digimon Story series returns with Time Stranger, which will be available exclusively on PS5 later this year. Set in both the real and digital worlds, the game will feature an improved battle system with both new and old Digimon making appearances.

Lies of P: Overture

  • Neowiz has revealed the long-awaited DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture. The DLC is a prequel to the base game, transporting P back to the city of Krat prior to its collapse during the "Great Puppet Frenzy." The expansion is set to release across all platforms this summer.

Darwin’s Paradox

  • Darwin's Paradox is a puzzle platformer from French developer ZeDrimeTim in which players control Darwin, a charming little octopus who has found himself far away from the sea in a food factory. Darwin can climb surfaces, fire ink, and camouflage himself to solve a variety of puzzles with the added inclusion of DualSense functionality. The game will arrive on PS5 later this year.

Hell Is Us

  • Rogue Factor's third-person action-adventure title Hell Is Us has been given a September 4 release date, as well as a new trailer showcasing some of the game's combat and characters.

Dreams of Another

  • Dreams of Another, the latest entry in the long-running PixelJunk series, is a third-person exploration-action game in which players shoot guns to rebuild the world around them rather than destroying it. The unique philosophical "shooter" will be released on both PS5 and PS VR2 later this year.
