Take-Two is reportedly looking to sell or close Private Division
Take-Two Interactive is reportedly planning to sell or close its Private Division publishing label following major layoffs and rumors of studio closures at the company.
The details:
Last month, it was reported by Bloomberg that Take-Two would close Roll7 and Intercept Games as part of its restructuring plan, which will result in the dismissal of 5% of its workforce. Despite CEO Strauss Zelnick's claim that this was not the case, an Intercept manager confirmed that its employees would be laid off in June, and another report claimed that the "vast majority" of Private Division had been let go.
According to a new report from IGN, multiple sources close to Take-Two have confirmed that the company intends to sell Private Division or close it entirely if no buyer is found. The report claims employees were informed in February that layoffs were imminent, and in April, management informed them that Take-Two would no longer support the publisher, with layoffs following shortly thereafter.
IGN has also reportedly confirmed that Intercept will close on June 28, as previously reported, and that Roll7 and Private Division have been reduced to small teams to "tie up loose ends" and support their upcoming and recent releases.
