Nintendo has announced several new features for the Switch 2, including game chat, a new C-button, and mouse-like functionality. It also stated that the console will arrive on June 5 and will be priced at £395.99 for the base model or £429.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle.

The details:

  • As revealed in the Switch 2 Direct, the console will include a number of new hardware and software features. To begin, the Switch 2 will feature a larger 7.9-inch 1080p screen with HDR support and a refresh rate of 120 FPS. When docked, the console can output 4K resolution, and the new dock includes a fan to keep the console running smoothly.

  • Its internal storage has also been improved, with a total of 256GB available right out of the box, and it will be significantly faster than the original Switch. Those looking to expand their storage will need a faster micro SD Express card, as the console does not support standard micro SD cards used in its predecessor.

  • As previously revealed, the new Joy-Cons will attach to the console magnetically and offer larger analog sticks than the original model. When used as a single controller, each Joy-Con has larger shoulder buttons, mouse-like functionality, motion controls, and a new "C" button that activates the Switch 2's new GameChat feature.

  • GameChat will allow players to communicate with one another via voice and video while playing online games, with the microphone located on the Switch 2 system itself. Players can also share their screens with friends and family as they play the game. If you own the new camera accessory, you'll be able to directly video chat with others and overlay your face in games like the updated Switch 2 version of Mario Party Jamboree.
