Sony has announced that it will raise the price of a 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription in Canada for the second time in two years.
The details:
In an email to Canadian PS Plus users (via ResetEra), Sony confirmed that new yearly subscription pricing will go into effect on June 24, raising the cost of all three tiers. PS Plus Essential will increase by $15 CAD from $94.99 to $109.99, while Extra and Premium will rise by $35 from $154.99 to $189.99 and $189.99 to $224.99, respectively.
Sony states that the change "will enable us to continue bringing high-quality games and benefits to your PlayStation Plus subscription service" and that any users whose subscriptions renew before June 24 will continue to pay the current price. However, those who change their subscription tier before then will be required to pay the new prices.
This is the second time the PS Plus price has been raised in Canada, with the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers costing $69.99, $114.99, and $139.99 respectively a year before the first increase in 2023. Sony has also recently increased the retail price of the PS5 in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, making the now five-year-old platform up to β¬100 more expensive than when it first launched.
