Nothing is stopping more Xbox games coming to PS5 or Switch, Phil Spencer confirms
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has stated that Xbox has not ruled out bringing any of its first-party games to competing console platforms, including Halo.
The details:
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Spencer stated that the company was pleased with the performance of its multi-platform releases over the past year and that it plans to bring more of its titles to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch in the future. "I do not see sort of red lines in our portfolio that say 'thou must not,'" Spencer said.
Xbox released Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded on Switch and PS5 earlier this year, marking an important shift in the company's strategy, as exclusives have always been a major selling point for its hardware. These plans were reaffirmed when Bethesda's Indiana Jones and The Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages were announced for PS5 next year, with Spencer previously stating that the industry should βnever rule outβ a release when questioned about Starfield on PS5.
Regarding Xbox's flagship franchise Halo, the CEO stated that it was too early to discuss a potential multi-platform release for the next game in the series. However, it was previously reported that a remake of Halo Combat Evolved was in the works, which could be released on PS5. While nothing has been said since, it has been confirmed that Halo Studios is currently working on multiple projects using Unreal Engine 5, including a new mainline title, suggesting that the CE remake could be one of them.
