Don't Nod, a French publisher and developer best known as the original creator of Life is Strange and Jusant, has confirmed that its proposed "reorganisation project" will threaten 69 jobs.

The details:

  • In its half-year results, released on October 16, the company announced "strongly negative results despite performance-enhancing measures," owing to the underperformance of recent releases. The developer is now considering a "reorganization project to safeguard its competitiveness in an increasingly demanding and competitive ecosystem."

  • Don't Nod has acknowledged that the restructuring could have an impact on its French workforce, potentially affecting up to 69 jobs. "An initial exchange took place today with the employee representative bodies, and an information-consultation process with these same bodies will subsequently be initiated regarding this project," said the studio. It also added that a "voluntary redundancy plan" is being discussed in the event the plan goes ahead.

  • The company stated that the restructuring aims to "rationalise the number of the company production lines, strengthen the role of the editorial committee to better meet market expectations, restore more organisational agility, align technologies for greater efficiency [and] secure the company's financing."

  • The "reorganisation project" comes after a difficult year for Don't Nod, which announced last month that it would focus its development plans on its main upcoming release, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, in order to "maximize the chances of success of the titles with the greatest potential." As a result, two projects were paused, and it was confirmed that Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden fell short of commercial expectations.
