Despite fan concerns that the game might not be available on the original Switch, Team Cherry has confirmed that Hollow Knight: Silksong will still be available on the console, along with a next-generation version for the Switch 2.

The details:

  • Years and several delays after its initial announcement in 2019, Silksong made an appearance at Nintendo's recent Switch 2 Direct as one of its third-party titles set to release later this year. Given that the game reappeared after years of silence, some fans speculated that the original Switch version had been scrapped, with the game now scheduled for a Switch 2-only release.

  • However, Team Cherry marketing and publishing director Matthew Griffin has confirmed that this is not the case and that both Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions are still in the works. β€œJust to clarify, Hollow Knight: Silksong is coming to both Nintendo Switch AND the Nintendo Switch 2,” he wrote in a post on X.

  • It is unclear what the differences between the two versions will be, but the Switch 2 port is expected to have a higher resolution, faster frame rate, and other technical improvements. Nintendo has also recently updated the game's store page with new screenshots, providing fans with another look at the title ahead of its unspecified 2025 release date.
