Hellblade 2 developer Ninja Theory's next project reportedly greenlit by Microsoft
It has been claimed that Microsoft has already greenlit Ninja Theory's next title ahead of the release of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, despite concerns about the studio closing its doors.
The details:
A day before the launch of the game, studio head Dom Matthews sent a message to fans and developers via X, thanking them for their support and hard work on the project. Although many congratulated the developer on the release, others interpreted the message's tone as a "goodbye."
According to Windows Central's sources, Microsoft has already approved Ninja Theory's next project with no plans to close the studio. The new title has no connection to Project Mara, which was announced in 2020 and described as a "real-world and grounded representation of mental terror.β
The recent decision by Microsoft to close Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks, as well as two other smaller studios, has fueled speculation that more studios will close in the near future. Tango Gameworks' closure has sparked the most criticism, as Hi-Fi Rush was a critical success when it was released last year, although it has been claimed the decision was made due to it being in between projects.
