Grand Theft Auto 6 may be released by March 2025

It appears that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) could be revealed shortly, with a release coming as soon as 2024, as suggested by Take-Two Interactive’s recent financial report.

The details:

• Take-Two Interactive (T2), the publisher of GTA, has released a new financial report for the 2023 fiscal year, which includes the company's massive prediction of $8 billion in net bookings during its 2025 fiscal year, which begins in April 2024. To put the target numbers in context, T2's report states that the company's net revenue for 2023 was $5.3 billion, a significant increase from $3.1 billion in 2022.
• T2 states that it intends to achieve the projected revenue by releasing "several groundbreaking titles," and despite not mentioning GTA by name, the franchise is the publisher's biggest money maker, with GTA V generating a whopping $1 billion in its first 24 hours. It's no secret that GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games in the world, and with T2's mobile subsidiary Zynga doing a lot of the heavy lifting for 2023's $5.3 billion in revenue, the publisher will need to make some acquisitions, release multiple games, or allow fans to finally get their hands on the latest GTA title to meet its prediction.
• There isn't much known about T2's upcoming titles, but we do know that Mafia 4 and a new BioShock are in the works; BioShock creator Ken Levine is working on Judas; and 31st Union is also working on a new IP. Aside from that, the company has a yearly sports title lineup that includes NBA 2K, PGA Tour 2K, and WWE 2K. Even though several titles are on the way, it's unlikely that they'll bring T2 close to the $8 billion prediction that GTA's launch did, especially if the new entry includes an online mode like GTA Online, which has been a major source of revenue for the company over the past decade thanks to in-game microtransactions.

• Amazon Games has announced a partnership with Embracer Group's Middle-Earth Enterprises to create a Lord of the Rings MMO. The new project has nothing to do with the canceled Lord of the Rings MMO project from 2021 or the still-supported Lord of the Rings Online from 2007.
• Hawken, a mech shooter that was canceled over half a decade ago, is being resurrected as a free-to-play PvE title. 505 Games has chosen to use Steam's early access program to allow the community to provide feedback throughout the development process, intending to release a full version in 18 months. The game's early access test is now available on the Steam store page.
