Goat Simulator creator Coffee Stain closes mobile-focused Malmö studio

Goat Simulator developer Coffee Stain has confirmed the closure of its mobile-focused Malmö studio in Sweden, with around 17 roles likely to be affected.

The details:

  • According to a LinkedIn post from Coffee Stain Publishing vice president of mobile Daniel Persson, the company has decided to shut down its Malmö-based mobile development office. "Building this office from the ground up has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” the post reads. “It started as an idea that grew into an amazing team of talented people. I couldn't be more proud of what we have accomplished together."
  • It’s currently unknown exactly how many employees are affected by the closure, but the studio’s website stated that the team comprised of 17 employees. It is also possible that some of its staff may have been relocated to other positions within Coffee Stain.
  • Formed in 2021, the Malmö studio acted as Coffee Stain’s hub for mobile development and publishing. The team operated under Coffee Stain Publishing, the independent entity that split from former parent company Embracer Group last year.
