Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi has stated that he believes the final installment of the remake trilogy will be one of the best releases in "the history of video games."

The details:

  • Speaking alongside producer Yoshinori Kitase at the "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Summoning A Masterpiece" presentation in Riyadh to discuss the creation of Rebirth, Hamaguchi confirmed that Square Enix is currently working on Part 3. “The development team is hard at work as we speak, and we’re going to make the game something that even beats any expectations that you have towards the game,” Hamaguchi said.

  • The director also stated that he is "absolutely confident" that it will be "one of the most loved, most popular games in the whole history of video games, once again." "I really hope the fans can have great expectations toward this game, and we will meet those expectations,” Kitase added. “We will definitely expand on and make the world of Final Fantasy 7 even bigger than it is now."

  • Hamaguchi and Kitase also discussed how the team intends to improve upon the game's acclaimed predecessors in terms of gameplay and story content. Feedback from fans has been taken into account, with the game being a "synergy" of "nostalgia and new innovation" and "exactly what the fans are looking for."

  • Rebirth, which released earlier this year, was met with universal acclaim for its intriguing open-world, engaging combat, and character interactions. Despite the positive reviews, some fans complained about the game's excessive use of minigames and subpar visuals, although the latter was addressed shortly after release.
