Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will appear at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, with director Naoki Hamaguchi set to take the stage in person. The appearance signals more than a standard trailer drop, with new gameplay footage expected at minimum.

The details:

  • Opening Night Live begins August 25 at 11am PDT and will be streamed live across YouTube, Twitch, and X. Hamaguchi's on-stage involvement suggests a hands-on presentation or further announcements beyond a standalone trailer.
  • Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is the third and final entry in Square Enix's FF7 Remake project, set for Spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
  • The game introduces the Highwind airship as a travel and exploration system, new playable party members Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine, and FITS, a new class-based system that adds special abilities and outfits.
  • Players with save data from Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will receive bonus Summoning Materia in Revelation, including Chocobo and Moogle and Phoenix.
