Fallout 4 tops sales charts in Europe almost a decade after its release
Following the critical and commercial success of Amazon's Fallout TV series, fans enjoyed significant discounts on the franchise's games, resulting in Fallout 4 topping the charts in Europe.
The details:
As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, sales of 2015βs Fallout 4 have increased by 7,500% week-on-week across Europe, according to data from chart company GSD. The figure includes both digital sales across all markets and physical units in major countries such as the UK, France, Germany, and Spain.
69% of sales were on PC, with the remainder split between PlayStation and Xbox. Fallout 4 is also available on PlayStation Plus Extra, Xbox Game Pass, and Amazon Luna, all of which are not included in the GSD data.
Fallout 4 is not the only game in the series to rocket up the charts, with Fallout 76 landing at number eight with 85% of its sales on PC, and 3 and New Vegas coming in at ninth and tenth, respectively. Even older entries, Fallout 1, 2, and the Classic Collection have ranked 70th, 57th, and 43rd.
Amazon's Fallout has been a hit with both fans and newcomers, with player numbers for the game series nearly tripling on Steam since its debut earlier this month. It has also been confirmed that a second season is on the way.
