Bungie reveals Destiny 2's "Fate Saga," two paid expansions coming this year including Star Wars DLC

Following the conclusion of Destiny 2's Light and Dark Saga with the release of The Final Shape DLC last year, Bungie has announced the Fate Saga, which will begin with the release of the first of two expansions, one of which is based on Star Wars.
The details:
As revealed in a recent livestream, Destiny 2's "Year of Prophecy" will begin on July 15 with the release of its first expansion, The Edge of Fate. The Year of Prophecy will include two paid expansions, the aforementioned The Edge of Fate and December's "Renegades," as well as two free major content updates, Ash & Iron and Shadow & Order, which are set to launch in September 2025 and March 2026, respectively.
The Edge of Fate marks the start of a new story arc in the game, with Guardians visiting the new planet of Kepler, which is "inspired by the puzzle-solving and pathfinding challenges of Destiny 2's dungeons and destination design, which encourages deep exploration, mystery, and player-driven discovery." Bungie states that the expansion will include "major core game innovations" like revamped gear systems, an activity selection screen dubbed "The Portal," and new weapons, armor, abilities, and more.
Players will also be able to select from Fireteam Ops, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible Ops, and Solo Ops, which provide activities tailored to different types of players. While Fireteam and Pinnacle Ops are geared toward longer-form co-op content, Solo Ops are "specifically designed for solo players who want short, self-contained gameplay sessions without the need for a fireteam." Activities can also be customized using the game's 50 new gameplay modifiers.
While Bungie hasn't revealed much about the two free updates, it has confirmed that the second expansion, Renegades, will incorporate elements from the Star Wars universe. The developer says it will be "integral" to the Fate Saga, combining Destiny with "elements drawn from the iconic sci-fi franchise." Its new teaser trailer also depicts Guardians wielding various blasters and a lightsaber, and confirms that a full reveal is set for December 9.
Pre-orders for both The Edge of Fate and the full Year of Prophecy are now open, and include various passes, raid access, and additional bonus content, such as the New Land Beyond exotic sniper rifle, which is available immediately to Ultimate Edition buyers.
