Blizzard has released the patch notes for Overwatch 2's new update, revealing new penalties for players who leave games too frequently.
The details:
- Blizzard confirms in the most recent patch notes for Overwatch 2 that it has changed the penalties for frequent leavers. The old penalty of reducing players' XP by 75% has been replaced by a harsher punishment of a suspension ranging from 10 to 30 minutes depending on the number of games left early.
- According to the developer, if players leave four games out of their last 20, they will reach the first threshold and be barred from entering "most game modes" for 10 minutes. If a player leaves six games in a row, they will receive the harsher 30-minute ban. This is the same as the old system but with greater penalties.
- The new rules have been met with mixed reactions from fans, with some supporting Blizzard for doing something to address the ongoing issue of players leaving in the middle of a game, while others see it as making the more casual modes "less fun" by forcing players to stay in games that are unwinnable and unenjoyable.
