It has been announced that Obsidian's Xbox timed-exclusive action RPG Avowed is finally heading to PlayStation 5, arriving alongside a major anniversary update that brings new modes and features to the game on all platforms.

The details:

  • As revealed during the New Game Plus showcase, the PS5 version of Avowed will launch on February 17, 2026, almost exactly one year after the game's initial release on Xbox consoles and PC.
  • The PS5 release coincides with Avowed's anniversary update, which brings a range of new additions to the title. Included in the update is a New Game Plus mode, allowing players to replay the game with their existing character and equipment, new character races, an additional weapon type, the ability to customize your appearance in the overworld, and a Photo Mode.
  • Set in the world of Eora, originally introduced in Obsidian's Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed was met with generally positive reception at launch. Despite criticisms towards its dated feel, it was praised for its narrative and engaging combat system, drawing comparisons with Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds.
  • The PS5 port is a part of Microsoft's ongoing strategy of bringing its Xbox first-party titles to competing platforms, including its biggest franchises, such as Forza Horizon, and later this year, Halo.
