Bungie and NetEase could announce a Destiny mobile game "soon"
A Destiny mobile game titled "Destiny Rising" developed by Bungie and Chinese publisher NetEase is expected to be announced “soon.”
The details:
According to an article from The Game Post shared by Threads user Destiny Bulletin, Destiny Rising is still in development following the latest round of layoffs at Bungie. This is the first update on the project since it was announced in 2022.
Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb shared the Destiny Bulletin post, stating that the game is real and still in the works and that official information could be coming soon. “Yeah, this is real,” Grubb wrote. “Not a lot of people from Bungie working on it. It could get announced soon.”
Under the post, another user asked Grubb what fans should expect from the game, to which he replied that it will be "Destiny on mobile, but with a lot of changes," with players using "Hero characters instead of building your own character."
The original 2022 report from The Game Post stated that NetEase and Bungie had been working on the title for two years at the time. The game was most likely the result of a deal reached between the two companies in 2018 when NetEase invested $100 million in the studio before Sony acquired Bungie. Following the deal, NetEase said it would "explore new directions" and "build new worlds" with the developer.
