Assassin’s Creed: Shadows associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois has confirmed that there will be no more DLC expansions for the game going forward, with Ubisoft instead opting to release “chunkier updates.”

The details:

  • In an interview with YouTube channel JorRaptor, Lemay-Comtois confirmed that the game will not follow the past formula of Assassin’s Creed games having two full expansions, which began with Origins. Back in September, Shadows received its first and only DLC with Claws of Awaji, which built upon the game’s story and introduced a new region and much more.
  • Lemay-Comtois stated that Ubisoft is taking a new approach with Shadows’ post-release content, instead choosing to release “chunkier updates” similar to that of the title’s recent Attack on Titan collaboration. He explained that the studio has learned from the game’s first year and that it no longer needs to be “quicker and reactive,” allowing it to release larger pieces of content.
  • However, the director clarified that, while this is the company's current plan, nothing is set in stone. He also stated that the development team may include more content than originally planned in the updates, but none will be the size of an expansion.
