Zelda producer confirms that there are no DLC plans for Tears of the Kingdom

Series producer Eiji Aonuma has stated that there are no plans currently in place to release additional content for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom after its development team felt like it had already explored all of the game’s version of Hyrule.

The details:

• Aonuma confirmed the lack of DLC in an interview with Japanese publication Famitsu (via VGC), stating that its developers "already fully explored and exhausted the gameplay possibilities in this world," before going on to explain why this is the case. "Initially, the reason we decided to develop a sequel was because we believed there was still value in experiencing new gameplay within that particular Hyrule," the producer explained. "If in the future we find a compelling reason, we may revisit that world once again. Whether it’s another sequel or an entirely new title, I believe the next game will offer a completely new experience. I hope you’ll look forward to it.”
• Its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, received two expansions that added new gameplay modes and other content. TOTK was conceived as a DLC until its development team had enough ideas to opt for a full sequel instead, with the game taking place in a heavily altered version of Hyrule from BOTW.
• Given the success of TOTK, the decision to not create post-launch content for the title is somewhat surprising. After selling 10 million copies in its first week, it became the fastest-selling Zelda title in history, and it was also a critical success, receiving an average of 96 out of 100 on OpenCritic.
