The details:
- Update 1.31, which landed on September 23, makes Quake Champions a $9.99 paid game on Steam and retires the Microsoft Store version entirely. Anyone who played the free-to-play version before that date keeps access at no cost. Microsoft Store players can claim their free Steam copy by linking their Bethesda.net account before October 7.
- Everything that came with the free-to-play model is gone: the battle pass, weekly and event challenges, the store, Platinum and Shard currencies, loot boxes, and daily login rewards have all been removed. All Champions and nearly all cosmetics are now unlocked for every player by default.
- Bethesda says no additional content updates are planned at this time, though the update itself adds new weapons, weapon shaders, a callvote system for kicking cheaters, and a new levelling system that goes up to level 999. Thirty seasons' worth of content remains in the game for players to work through.
- The Microsoft Store version is being permanently retired alongside the transition, consolidating the player base on Steam only.
