Warner Bros. Games San Francisco reportedly hit with layoffs

It has been reported that Warner Bros. Games has eliminated multiple positions at its San Francisco studio, which houses the company's Digital Publishing division, according to statements from affected employees.

The details:

  • As reported by Game Developer, several senior staff members publicly confirmed the unspecified number of job cuts via LinkedIn, with at least one employee sharing that their entire team was let go from the studio last month. Among those affected were Director of Design Tony Perkins, Live Ops producer Kevin Chen, and art director Roland Herran, despite over a decade of working at the company.
  • The San Francisco studio, which serves as the home of WB Games' Digital Publishing division, specializes in mobile and free-to-play titles. The studio has worked on projects including DC Worlds Collide and DC Legends and provided support for the now-defunct multiplayer crossover fighting game MultiVersus.
  • These cuts come as parent company Warner Bros. Discovery navigates a proposed $82.7 billion acquisition by Netflix, with the deal currently serving as the preferred option over rival bidder Paramount. However, it's likely that WB Games will see further reductions going forward, as its revenue has continued to decline in recent years, resulting in the closure of three studios in early 2025.
