Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been delayed
Focus Home Interactive has announced that Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has been delayed until 2024 to provide more development time to polish the game.
The details:
The delay was announced in the company update, stating that the release of the game has been pushed back to the second half of 2024 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, to “ensure the best possible experience”. “The game is now poised to ship in the second half of 2024, to provide the time needed to properly polish the game and to ensure the best possible experience,” Focus said. “Focus Entertainment is committed to releasing a game that is of the highest quality and that exceeds the expectations of the countless fans of the franchise. Space Marine 2 has already accumulated over a million wish lists to date.”
However, an exact release date is on the way, with Focus stating that an announcement will be made in "early December." The reveal is expected to take place at The Game Awards on December 7.
Since the original hack and slash Space Marine was released in 2011, fans have been demanding a sequel, despite its mixed critical reception. Fortunately, the gameplay reveal for Space Marine 2 in August revealed that much of what made the first game great is returning, including gritty visuals, melee and ranged combat, and cinematic bloody battles against the Tyranids.
