UK studio Splash Damage has announced that it is entering a studio-wide consultation process affecting all roles.

The details:

  • The London-based developer shared the news publicly via LinkedIn, with staff being informed of the process on Wednesday. "This was a difficult step for us to take, but we believe it is necessary so Splash Damage can remain agile and adaptable in what has been a very challenging market," the statement reads. "We know this kind of change is emotionally tough, and we will do what we can to guide our people through this process with honesty and care. We're committed to exploring every option to retain talent and making sure those affected have meaningful support throughout."
  • The studio has faced significant challenges this year, including the cancellation of Transformers: Reactivate in January 2025, which already placed several positions at risk of redundancy. However, in September 2025, the studio split from Tencent, which had owned Splash Damage since its acquisition of parent company Leyou Technologies in 2020, and was acquired by unnamed private equity investors.
  • Since 2023, Splash Damage has been working on Project Astrid, an AAA open-world survival game developed in partnership with prominent streamers Sacriel and Shroud, though no recent updates on the project have been shared. It has also served as a support studio for the Gears of War and Halo series in recent years.
