Turok 3 and Star Wars: Dark Forces remasters announced by Nightdive Studios

Old-school first-person shooters Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion and Star Wars: Dark Forces are getting fresh coats of paint and features in upcoming Nightdive Studios remasters.

The details:

• Nightdive gave us a first look at the work being done on the classic titles during Gamescom Opening Night Live, including bringing both games up to 4K resolution with support for 120 frames per second across PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
• Since its initial release in 1995, Star Wars: Dark Forces has become a fan favorite, with fans creating their own remasters, mods, and even Unreal Engine 4 and VR remakes. Nightdive, which collaborated with Lucasfilm Games on the project, appears to have gone all in on the remaster treatment, with reworked cinematics, full controller support, advanced 3D rendering, and the addition of achievements and trophies. The title has yet to be given a release date, but it is expected later this year.
• Turok 3 was released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64 and serves as the conclusion to the original trilogy, with the previous two games also receiving Nightdive remasters. It will also get a facelift, with new rendering features, updated models and textures, and achievements. The Switch version will also include optional motion controls that make use of the controller's gyroscope. The shooter is set to release on November 14, 2023, and can be wishlisted on Steam.

• Charles Martinet, who provided the voices for Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi in Nintendo's games, has announced that he will no longer be doing any work for the characters and will instead serve as the company's "Mario Ambassador. Martinet and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto will soon release a video honoring the actor's accomplishments after more than 25 years.
• The Xbox 360's online store will close on July 29, 2024, which means that players will no longer be able to purchase content through the console or its website. However, previously purchased content can still be re-downloaded, and films and TV shows can be viewed on the Xbox One, Series X/S, and PC via the Movies & TV app.
